描述：初认为这个细胞源自口腔表皮癌，但随后通过同工酶分析、HeLa标记染色体和DNA指纹分析发现，起源细胞已被HeLa污染。 角蛋白免疫过氧化物酶染色阳性。 有报告称KB细胞含有人乳头状瘤病毒18 (HPV-18)序列。
